THE ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE
WHAT IS THE ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE?
The Alliance Française de Sydney is a not-for-profit Franco-Australian cultural association which was founded in 1895. It is dedicated to promoting French language and culture and to establishing friendly relationships between francophones and francophiles in Sydney and in Australia at large.
It is at once a language school, a cultural centre, a multimedia library, a bookshop and a typical French café.
The Alliance Française de Sydney is part of the largest network of French language and cultural centres teaching over 40,000 students worldwide. There are 1,300 Alliances Françaises established in 112 countries including 33 in Australia.
